Catch 22 for Technology Recruiters
|
Current time require extra-effort across the board; Firms, employees, HR people and recruiters. Recruiting business becomes tougher now.
It is true that RF/Microwave engineering and security clearance are relatively sweet spots in today's economy, yet it is still far from what it used to be only less than a year ago.
To make things even tougher, recruiters from less fortunate industries hop onboard now.
The end result is tighter competition over both clients and hard-to-find microwave engineers with variety of scarce field of expertise.
Technology recruiters today are required to perform with fewer vacancies facing tougher competition, shortage in qualified candidates and smaller advertising budgets.
One recent recruiter's email says “It is kind of a catch 22. I need the boards to help me find resumes but have to get placements to get money to afford the boards”.
This is a very common example these days. Although there are many engineers knocking at the door for work, yet they typically don't possess the skill sets required for the vacancies.
First step to beat the beast is by expediting vacancy placement. Closing those hanging placements refuels the company's financial resources.
In the microwave engineering job market it is very typical to find many months' old vacancies awaiting hard-to-find skill sets.
Filling those is a matter of reaching the right prospects. Assuming that a matching candidate does exist somewhere in the country, success is very much related to the level of publicity that the vacancy receives.
After all, in a reality of slow demand for placements, those hanging vacancies have a greater weight in the revenue forecast.
